The. Most. Magical. Experience. After almost 10 hours on the go yesterday, we arrived in Vancouver Airport. The lovely Gina from @westjet was pushing me through the airport to my next gate, when I started gesturing madly at the piano in excitement. It’d been a month since I’d played or even seen a piano like this, and I thought my heart was going to explode from happiness. One problem: this gorgeous #yamahapiano from @tomleemusiccanada (xox guys!!) was roped off with a big “don’t touch” sign. Gah! I was sad, but assured Gina it was enough to SEE a piano. She then called some wizard at airport authority, to ask for permission for me to play, and removed the ropes. I rolled up and play all the melodies that had been haunting me for the past month: Smile, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, La Vie en Rose, A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square, Lullaby of Birdland. I forgot everything: the fatigue, the adrenaline of travel, the fact I was in a crowded airport, everything. I fell through the cracks in the silence between the notes. I have no idea how long I played before getting the worst hand cramp of life 😂 (depicted during this video #bless). But it was magic.
