#tbt this is the piano I painted in 2015 for @singforhope’s Pop Up Pianos. Based on my Star Child 113 painting and inspired by my son, Luke, who had passed away the year before. This piece was an intense and emotional healing process for me throughout its creation. It was a huge honor to see people enjoy playing and listening to the piano while it was installed at both Brooklyn Bridge Park and at Lincoln Center. And then for a few years it had disappeared. I’m so grateful to @paulanem from SFH for tracking down what remained of the piano and having it delivered to me this past Fall. Thank You 🙏 . The 2019 pianos hit the streets of NYC this week. I didn’t participate in painting a piano this year, but I still can’t wait to see all the color, joy, and excitement that this years pianos bring to the city. ❤️🎹
