Dungeons and dragons and woodland fantasy creatures…oh my! Our newest piano artist, Courtney Dore of Ќodoprints, was inspired by “Seek and Find” children’s books like Where’s Waldo for her design. The design was also inspired by her beloved hobby of playing Dungeons and Dragons; a roleplaying game where you can get together with a group of friends and pretend to be a character within an interactive story. Courtney says seeing the pianos and other works of art in Old Town filled her with so much wonder as a kid, she says, “I hope to create the same sense of inspiration, excitement, and happiness for children in our community and perhaps inspire future young artists to pursue the things that bring them joy.” 👩🏼‍🎤🧑🏼‍🎤🧌🧚‍♀️🧚🏾 #focoart #focomusic #focomagic #paintedpianos #dungeonsanddragons

Renee Peterson @peachie_queen_art is our newest piano artist. It is what she sees in her head when she closes her eyes and gets lost in a song. She specializes in abstract art but can do many styles. She believes art is essential and tries to create art that gives people a moment to themselves. Our newest Pianos About Town artist is Kris Mendonça. His design, The Universe in a Piano Shell, illustrates the human desire to explore the universe in a comic-inspired style. The idea behind the design is to create a world around the piano spanning from Horsetooth to outer space.Mendonça is a Brazilian multimedia artist based in Fort Collins. In addition to working as an illustrator for over 16 years, he's a dance instructor, a movie maker and performs as Krisa Gonna @krisagonna in drag. Beetles and insects have a brilliant history and connection to the arts. Miranda Pehrson @mirandaspiano has started her Pianos About Town mural, Plant the Seed! Stop by and see her painting in the Art in Action Tent through September 6. It is on Mountain south of Old Town Square. Miranda's design, Plant the Seed, depicts a metaphor of personal development. On one side of the artwork the illustration is only a concept, drawn on college ruled paper, while the full color version is represented on the other side. She chose imagery of cactuses and succulents to further emphasize growth. For Resting Chicken Face, Katie includes her pet hens, adding unpredictability amongst the more static flowers and leaves. They gaze out at the viewer, almost in a challenging way, as chickens can seem to do. Hence the title of the piece. They’re goofy, weird, sometimes intimidating tiny dinosaurs and she wants to show their personalities. Elisabeth and Audrey hope to draw in observers to take a closer look when they spot various hummingbird species flitting in and around the large flowers of the mural.
